THE STORY OF JMG

Founded on a Vision. Built on Access.

JMG was established in 2009 by Jacquari Harris, a publisher, creative director, and journalist who saw a gap in Houston's media coverage of culture, music, and entertainment and set out to fill it with modern, interview-driven content. His journalism background, combined with a genuine passion for music and entertainment and a relentless work ethic, drove JMG's rise into one of Houston's most recognized independent media outlets.

At its peak, JMG reached over 100,000 digital readers and secured more than 300 brand partnerships with paid advertisers and clients. Live Nation stood out as JMG's longest-running client, with a 15-year partnership that promoted some of the biggest concerts to hit Houston, including Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, and Drake. Other paid partnerships included Omni Hotels, Cinemark Theaters, and the W Dallas Victory. On the editorial side, Jacquari built relationships with record labels, movie studios, and publicists across the country, the access that made JMG's high-profile interviews and feature stories possible.

JMG's editorial work earned national recognition across four content production awards. Jacquari's 2019 interview with Jennifer Lee Pryor for the documentary "I Am Richard Pryor," which premiered at SXSW that year, won a Hermes Creative Award. His 2020 interview with actors Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs and Alan Powell for the film "Shooting Heroin" earned him a Communicator Award, and his 2018 pre-show interview with global DJs Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano won a MarCom Award in the Digital Media/YouTube Video category.

As publisher, Jacquari directed every editorial vision, led on-camera and print interviews with some of the most recognizable names in music, film, and entertainment, and positioned JMG as the go-to outlet for authentic storytelling at the intersection of entertainment and community.
